In Juarez, the city's biggest paper, El Diario, announced it would be pulling back coverage of the drug war after the second killing of one of its journalists this year.

In New Haven, W.Va., the Mountaineer Power Plant is using a complicated chemical process to capture about 1.5 percent of the carbon dioxide it produces. The gas is cooled to a liquid at a pressure of about 95 atmospheres and pumped 2,375 meters down to a sandstone formation, where it is meant to remain indefinitely. The objective is to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide being added to the atmosphere from the coal burning at the plant.
This certainly seems to be doing it the hard way. Extracting just this 1.5 percent of the CO2 from the plant's flue requires a $100 million investment, and whether the gas will remain underground or bubble to the surface is in question.

Post-U.S. invasion economic strategy âcomplete shamblesâ, says Iraq Central Bank official

The years since the 2003-U.S. invasion of Iraq have done more harm than good to Iraqâs economy, a senior Central Bank official says.
âOne of the reasons for the failure of the economic administration in the past seven years is the misuse of the resources which the country owns,â said Mudher Saleh, the bankâs official consultant.
He said there was imbalance and mismatch in Iraqâs economy with the state in control of 80 percent of the countryâs riches and other sectors the remaining 20 percent.
âThis mechanism cannot achieve any economic feasibility and therefore its unproductive and doomed to failure .. it is a complete shambles,â Saleh said.
